Ward Truckload Express Over the Road (OTR) drivers pick up and deliver truckloads using new 48' and 53' vans. The length of haul for an OTR driver can range from 50 - 1,000 miles per load, with the average being about 410 miles per load. Drivers will service customers in the states of PA, NJ, NY, DE, MD, ME, CT, MA, RI, VA, KY, OH, IN, MI, IL, NC & SC.

At times, OTR drivers will also switch loads with other drivers, spot trailers, stop-off en route, and unload with pallet jack or by hand. OTR drivers can expect to be home on weekends for an average of 48 hours.


OTR drivers are paid weekly with Direct Deposit available. We pay our drivers based upon "Practical Miles not Short Miles".

The Wage Scale for an OTR driver is as follows:
Starting Rate (Loaded & Empty) Base Pay
With 2yrs verifiable exp. .35 cpm
With 3yrs verifiable exp. .36 cpm
With 4yrs verifiable exp. .37 cpm
With 5yrs verifiable exp. .38 cpm
* Verifiable experience within past 5 years must be Regional or OTR to qualify.

* Pay increases annually on service date of .01 per mile for the first six years.

* Pay currently tops out at .44 per mile.

* Quarterly bonus of up to an additional 2 cpm based upon engine idle time.

*Drivers will average 1st year gross earnings of $52,000.00

*Drivers are "Home Every Weekend" - for normally 48 hours

Hand load / Unload $10.00
Block / Unblock $8.00
Load / Unload second trailer $25.00 (plus mileage pay)
Extra Stop-offs $20.00
Extra Drop & Hook $6.00
Shorthaul pay (0 to 150 loaded miles) 25% of revenue + empty miles
Shorthaul pay (151 to 300 loaded miles) add'l $ .05 / loaded mile (Shipper to receiver)
Layover to next day when empty in AM $75.00
Layover to next day when empty in PM $50.00
Breakdown pay after two hours $8.00 / hour (not to exceed layover pay)
Detention Pay after two hours $10.00 / hour (not to exceed layover pay)
Deliveries to Long Island points $65.00
